My nutrition plans have been reliable for years and I'm committed to helping you succeed!

When it comes to triathlon training and racing, nutrition is the fourth discipline. If your body is not fueled correctly, your goals will be more difficult to reach and it'll take longer to reach them. In short, you'll be disappointed on race day.

Hi, my name is Kenyon Congdon. I've been racing triathlons for over 30 years at all distances. Understanding the impact of nutrition on my performance was something I had to learn along the way. I made mistakes and learned from them. For many years now, my nutrition plans have enabled me to finish strong time after time. I want to share my passion for the fourth discipline with you to help you be successful on race day. Whether your goal is to finish or to win, I want you to be prepared and fueled for maximum performance and success.

Over 30 years of experience in every package

My HS cross country coach suggested I try this new sport called triathlon

The race was on July 29, 1984 on Staten Island, New York. When I got out of school for the summer I set about learning how to swim 1500 meters. I was already a runner, but 10k was a long way for me so I started upping my mileage. I rode my Peugeot 10 speed that I had used the previous summer on a three week AYH bike tour. As race day approached, I visited with my XC coach because he lived on Staten Island. We talked through a plan, but there wasn't much discussion of nutrition beyond what I'd eat in the morning (oatmeal) and water during the race. Details of the race itself are a little fuzzy after 30+ years. It was at Great Kills Park and I remember the day was beautifully sunny and hot. I didn't want to get in that murky Atlantic water off Staten Island. Once on the swim, though, I remember keeping my mouth shut tight because I didn't want any of that stuff in my stomach! I really loved cycling and enjoyed the bike with some hills. The run was flat and hot. I felt my energy waning after just a mile but I struggled through as most triathletes are naturally inclined to do.

I wish I remembered my actual results and times, but they've long since faded from that time long before online results or real time smart phone results!

The results that matter are that I was hooked. I had a blast. I felt like the King of the World! I wanted to do it again!

That's how it began. I don't have any photos of that day. I'm sure there were some at one time, but they are long gone now.

Since then

At various times in my life I've raced more than others, but it's been a consistent part of my life for a long time! Since that first race in 1984 I've raced at all distances and in many places. I've been to the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii as a spectator in 1989 and a competitor in 2002. In 2015 I won the Great Floridian Triathlon, the oldest independent full distance triathlon in the United States. I've done racing road trips and camps across the country. My kids are now racing youth races and I LOVE coaching them.

It's about your success!

More than my own successes, I get joy from seeing others succeed. One of the great things about endurance sports is that we all love to see others succeed. For me it is the biggest thrill to see my friends and family and even people I don't know cross a finish line with the joy of accomplishing something they might never have thought possible.

Now I want Tri Fuel Monthly to help you succeed in your triathlon adventures! I'll do that by providing you with the best nutrition products and a plan for using them effectively in training and racing.

Free stuff!

I'm also excited to be able to give you a triathlon related gear every month!

Triathlon is expensive! Oh, I know it's expensive. There have been many times I've forgone the latest and greatest thing to make me go fast. Forget about the latest and greatest thing. Even the little things have to slide sometimes to make ends meet. Heck, I qualified for and raced in Hawaii on a aluminum Trek 2300 road bike at a time when carbon Cervelos and Kestrels were the rage.

At least my Trek had (still has) a carbon fork. Yes, I still ride it. I don't race on it, but I still ride it. No school like the old school!

I'm just saying, I know you can't always get what you want. So I want to give you a little something extra every month. It will always be something to help you achieve your goals, something you might not buy for yourself, something to make the difficult training a little easier and makes race-day go a little smoother. I want you to remember that you are number one. You work hard and you deserve it.

So check out our subscription products and know you are getting the best sports nutrition products on the market in packages that are designed for maximum benefit.
